Seniors and Retirees: Supporting Those Who Built Our Community
Frederick County is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family and it should be just as welcoming and affordable for those who retire here. With property values rising significantly over the past several years, we must ensure that our seniors and retirees can continue to afford to live in the community they helped build.
Seniors are now the largest population group in Frederick County, making it critical that we provide the services and support they need to live healthy, active lives.
It’s important that seniors know about and take full advantage of programs like the Homestead Property Tax Exemption and the Property Tax Credit for which they may qualify. We cannot let anyone be taxed out of their homes.
Frederick County does a good job providing essential services to seniors through the Senior Centers and the Parks and Recreation Department. I have been proud to support initiatives that expand senior services including improved transportation options, wellness programs, and social engagement opportunities to help our seniors stay connected and independent.
As one of the fastest growing and largest population groups in the county, seniors deserve expanded opportunities and resources to help them stay active, healthy, and engaged right here in Frederick County.
