Public Safety

Public Safety: Strong Support for Those Who Protect Us

A safe community is at the heart of why people love living in Frederick County. As a County Council member, I’ve made it a priority to ensure that our public safety agencies have the resources, personnel, and support they need to protect our families, neighborhoods, and businesses.

Since 2022, I’ve proudly supported:

Full funding for the Division of Fire and Rescue Services, including both career and volunteer responders

Full funding for the Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center, ensuring competitive salaries, proper staffing, and operational readiness

Support for SAFER grants (Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response), which have helped expand fire service coverage across the county

Investments in Animal Control and Emergency Management, which play vital roles in both daily safety and crisis response

Frederick County is growing, and with that growth comes more demand on our emergency services. We must keep pace and not fall behind.

With over 40 years of community involvement, including strong relationships with law enforcement and fire/rescue leadership, I understand what our public safety professionals need to do their jobs effectively and how important it is to coordinate with municipal departments across the county.

In my next term, I’ll continue to:

  • Advocate for sustainable staffing through SAFER and other funding mechanisms
  • Ensure capital investments in facilities and equipment
  • Promote cooperation among county and municipal agencies to provide the most efficient and effective emergency services
  • Protect Frederick County’s high quality of life by keeping public safety a top priority

Frederick County is one of the safest counties in Maryland and I’m committed to keeping it that way.
